Practical suggestion for new writers gathering their 100 for the MPP programme: don’t just start following people. Write something and let your profile make it clear that you’ll be writing.

I’ll tell you why. When I get a rush of followers without any evidence that they’ve read anything of mine — since my stats are flat, a consequence of having written nothing on Medium for many months, I suspect they are following me because they like my comments or they are following me hoping I’ll follow back.

But if your profile shows no writing at all and no indication that you’re not only a reader following writers, but a writer as well…
